Last updated: 30 May 2026

Summer VAT Calculator ("the app", "we") is an iOS application that helps people in the United Kingdom work out the correct VAT during the Great British Summer Savings relief period (25 June – 1 September 2026). This page explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices available to you.

Summary. The app works offline. Your calculations, history, business adjustments and receipt scans never leave your device. We do not have user accounts and we do not ask for personal information. The app itself runs no analytics. This website uses a privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics service (GoatCounter) that records aggregate page views and a small number of non-personal interaction events — see "Website analytics" below. The only third party that may receive data through the app is Google's ad SDK, used to show banner adverts in the free version — see "Advertising" for full detail.

1. Who we are

The app is published by Intelligenti Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom, acting as the data controller for the limited information described below.

Contact: support@intelligenti.com

2. What we collect (the app)

The app collects no information from you, in the conventional sense. Specifically:

  • Locally stored, never transmitted: the calculations you perform, history entries, business mode adjustments, scanned receipt images, and your in-app preferences (week start day, hero scene, etc.). This data is stored using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework and is accessible only to the app on your device.
  • Receipt scanning: when you scan a receipt the image is processed on-device by Apple's Vision framework. Neither the image nor the recognised text is ever uploaded.
  • No accounts, no sign-in: the app does not ask for an email address, name, phone number, location or any other identifier.
  • No analytics or telemetry: the app does not record how you use it, how often you open it, or which screens you visit.

3. Website analytics

This website (summervatcalculator.co.uk) uses GoatCounter, an open-source, privacy-respecting analytics service. GoatCounter helps us see whether the calculator is actually being used and which pages people read, without identifying anyone.

  • No cookies. GoatCounter sets no cookies and stores no persistent identifier in your browser.
  • No personal data. Your IP address is combined with a daily salt, hashed to count unique daily visitors, then discarded within a few hours. It is never stored in identifiable form.
  • Aggregate only. We see total page views, referring site, country (derived from the hashed IP), browser and screen-size bracket — nothing that can be tied back to you.
  • Interaction events. The calculator sends a tiny number of non-personal events — for example, that someone produced a result, or that the "Download on the App Store" badge was tapped. The amounts you enter, the dates you pick and the results themselves are never sent.

Because the data is fully aggregate and contains no personal data, no cookie banner or prior consent is required under UK PECR or UK GDPR. If you would still rather not be counted, block gc.zgo.at in your browser or enable a tracking blocker — GoatCounter respects Do Not Track.

Taps on the "Download on the App Store" badge include Apple campaign parameters (pt and ct) so we can see in App Store Connect how many installs originated from this website. Those parameters are sent to Apple only and contain no information about you personally.

4. How your data is used

The data described above is used solely to provide the functionality you see in the app: showing past calculations, preserving your settings between launches, and letting you export or re-open your own records. We do not use it for any other purpose because we never receive it.

5. Third parties

Three parties may be involved when you use the app, in each case governed by their own terms and privacy practices:

Apple (App Store, StoreKit, system frameworks)
Apple delivers the app to you, processes any in-app purchases and may collect anonymised App Store analytics if you have opted into sharing those with developers in iOS settings. We receive only aggregated, anonymised reports from Apple — never your identity. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
Google (Mobile Ads SDK)
The free version of the app shows banner adverts using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. See "Advertising" below for the data involved and how to opt out.
RevenueCat (planned)
We may use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchase entitlements. If enabled in a future release, RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your purchase receipt from Apple — no personal data. See revenuecat.com/privacy.

We do not sell, rent, or share data with anyone else.

6. Advertising

The free version of the app displays banner adverts through Google's Mobile Ads SDK ("AdMob"). To serve those adverts Google may collect or receive:

  • Device information such as model, operating system version, language and approximate IP-based location.
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA) only if you have granted tracking permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, only a limited, non-tracking identifier is used and adverts are non-personalised.
  • Information about the advert itself (when it was shown, whether it was tapped).

You can change tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, or in Settings → VAT Summer Saver. Purchasing Business Unlock removes adverts entirely. For Google's full disclosures see policies.google.com/privacy and Google AdMob's developer policy.

7. In-app purchases

The "Business Unlock" is a one-time non-consumable purchase handled entirely by Apple. We receive a confirmation that the purchase was made and an anonymous transaction identifier; we do not receive your payment method, billing address or Apple ID. To review or refund a purchase, contact Apple Support directly via support.apple.com/billing.

8. Retention & deletion

Because the data lives on your device, you control retention. Deleting the app removes all of it permanently. You can also clear individual history items from inside the app. We hold no copy elsewhere — there is nothing for us to delete on request.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children. It is intended for adults making purchases and for businesses managing VAT. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. The fact that the relief covers children's meals and family tickets does not change who uses the app — the user is the adult buyer or staff member operating it.

10. Your rights under UK GDPR

Although we do not hold personal data about you, the UK General Data Protection Regulation grants the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection in respect of any personal data a controller does hold. If you believe we are processing personal data about you, contact us using the address below and we will respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in a future release of the app. The version in force at the time you use the app is the one that applies.

12. Contact

For any question about this policy or your data, please email support@intelligenti.com. We aim to respond within five working days.
